Aves de la Estación Biológica Las Guacamayas (EBG)

La diversidad biológica y la avifauna del Parque Nacional Laguna del Tigre (Sitio RAMSAR) es sumamente rica y variada dada a su posición geográfica entre los ríos San Pedro, Yalá, Sacluc, San Juan, Chocop y los humedales de agua dulce, son el hogar de miles y miles de aves residentes y migratorias.

La calidad de estos hábitats convierte a la Estación Biológica Las Guacamayas en un santuario de vida silvestre y, especialmente la abundancia de aves representa más del 50% de la avifauna de toda Guatemala, por lo cual la zona ha sido de interés para el turismo de naturaleza de bajo impacto y para científicos que desarrollan diversos temas de investigaciones.
